American carmaker Ford has launched the new 2013 Transit Courier van in the UK, in Birmingham. This was the first time the company revealed the complete line-up of four next-generation Transit commercial vehicles for the first time. The new model provides class-leading load space, safety features and great running costs. With this new range, the company is expecting to grow to 400.000 units per year by 2016; this is 50 % more than what they sell today. The model was scheduled to go on sale in the spring of this year and so, the model will be available in European showrooms. The new line-up will include the new high-roof version of the Transit Custom which has been revealed for the first time in Birmingham at the CV Show. To complete the range, the American carmaker has also offered the new Fiesta Van and the new Ranger.
The Ford Transit Courier uses the global B-segment platform developed by Ford and it is easy to handle and to maneuver just like a compact vehicle. The load compartment includes greatest access width through sliding rear side doors, optional folding mesh bulkhead and fold-dive passenger seat to accommodate extended length items, optional ultra-bright LED load space lighting and multiple pre-installed body side fixing points to mount racking or framework.
The engines available for the mode the Dagenham-built 1.5-liter capable of generating 75 PS, the 1.6-liter Duratorq TDCi diesel engine with 95 PS output and last, but not least the remarkable 1.0-liter EcoBoost petrol engine capable of generating 100 PS. All models will have the Start / Stop system. In terms of fuel efficiency, the carmaker hopes for a 30 % improvement on the current model.
