These days Geneva is overcrowded by autos and auto fans. For those who like above all the technical output and less the aesthetical values the German manufacturer Gumpert has set a big surprise.
A brand new model is been released at Geneva Motor Show and this is Gumpert Apollo S. The version figured is the S colored in black and red. What lacks in design the supercar exponentially revenges by extreme performances. This fine masterpiece is showing all the time its circuit race breed and keeps the man at the wheel focused as a Formula 1 driver.
Without exaggeration Gumpert set a new power level in supercar fleets and delivers the almost unreal power-to-weight ratios of 782 HP/tone. This top performance is due to the Audi related engine, a V8 4163cc that has a power of 750 HP (551.6 kW) at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 900 Nm (663.7 lb-ft) at 4,000 rpm. Gumpert Apollo S will run from stand to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 2.9 seconds and next to 200 km/h (0-124 mph) in 8.8 seconds.
To set this tremendous power to the wheels Gumpert can be equipped with three types of gearboxes. These are: an automatic electronic gear system with paddle shift, a 6-speed fully-synchronized one and a sequential with manual gear shift lever.
Mass reduction is priority one to achieve this great efficiency and for that Apollo S has a carbon/Kevlar monocoque with a carbon body shell and carbon/aluminum underbody and chromium-molybdenum steel tube frame.
Regarding the wheels Gumpert is fitted with 19- or 20-inch alloys. Of course that the braking system has not been forgotten and its efficiency is thanks to its 378mm ventilated disc brakes with six-piston calipers on all four corners.
Nice features like double wishbone suspension for both axles, adjustable ground clearance, LED daytime running lights, removable steering wheel, carbon fiber rear wing, front anti roll bar and an updated ABS system can make your car even more impressive but the ultimate value is its performances.
