Carmaker Jaguar is getting ready for a new model. The engineers have been working on a second body style for the next generation Jaguar XJ. This model will be produced especially for the Chinese market, but not exclusively, so that more customers will have the possibility to enjoy it. According to the carmaker, the first body style will be a follow-up to the model we now have on the market. Now, the second one will not have the sloping roof in order to provide more space inside the cabin, and this is always a good thing. Different studies have shown that the Chinese customers prefer comfort and that they are not willing to give it up to aesthetics. Actually this information is
Very easy to prove. All we have to do is look at the different long wheelbase versions of premium sedans received on this market from different German companies. It is good to know how the market is, who the customers are and what exactly is that they want. The German carmakers have been starting launching these types of cars a few years ago, and have incredible success.
The new Jaguar XJ might receive a plug-in hybrid variant according to the car presented last year. Back then, the model received power from a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, from an electric motor capable of generating 94 horsepower and which came with a lithium-ion 12.3 kWh battery pack. The overall output was 334 horsepower which enabled the car to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 6.5 seconds and to reach an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.
In terms of fuel consumption, the XJ was capable of offering 73.5 mpg UK and so the model has a 679 mile range. Chances are the new generation Jaguar XJ will arrive on the market in 2016 and there is no way of knowing whether the second body style will be produced only for China or if both versions will be available worldwide.
