Lexus GS 450h

The all-new 2013 Lexus GS 450h represents the world's first premium performance sedan that comprises a V6 Atkinson cycle gas engine and two-motor hybrid system, thus reinforcing Lexus' commitment to hybrid technology. The GS 450h engineers strongly aimed to reduce CO2 emissions and fuel consumption, without compromising the exhilarating performance. The GS 450h delivers 338 HP and covers the 0-100 km/h sprint in only 5.6 seconds and it is focusing on obtaining certification as a Super-Ultra Low Emissions vehicle II due to its 30 per cent reduced emissions. Mark Templin, Lexus group vice president and general manager in the U.S., stated that the new GS 450h would provide their customers with a great mixture of precision and performance in a new hybrid package and the dynamic exterior styling, the roomy interior and advanced technology features further demonstrated the Lexus' mastery of the luxury hybrid. The 3.5-liter V6, DOHC engine was adapted specifically to be a first for premium performance by receiving several technical improvements that included the adoption of the Atkinson Cycle engine design in order to optimize the fuel-efficient benefits of Lexus Hybrid Drive. The adoption of lightweight technology considerably lowered the engine noise, vibration and friction. Engineers conducted extensive platform testing, ultimately increasing the number of spot welds and adding laser welds in very specific locations, while the new suspension system helps guide the 2013 GS 450h through corners with the ultimate precision. The Lexus Dynamic Handling system includes the control of the Electric Power Steering (EPS), VGRS and newly developed DRS, while the optimum angle for all four wheels is calculated by the system monitoring vehicle speed, steering direction and driver inputs. The customers will be confident in experiencing the new GS' exceptional driving performance through the Lexus Dynamic Handling system which automatically customizes the adaptive suspension tuning and active safety systems in order to suit road conditions. The luxurious interior integrates next generation Remote Touch, an analog clock with LED indicators, carved from an ingot as well as a new energy-saving auto climate control system called S-Flow, making this Lexus hybrid highly impeccable.
