Maserati GranTurismo MC Trofeo

We now have the opportunity to meet the new 2013 Maserati GranTurismo MC Trofeo, a model that seems to have the same specs as the 2012 version. The new model will start its activity in the 2013 Maserati Trofeo MC World Series. The overall weight was reduced to 1.380 kg. So that you know, all models are made track-ready by technicians who work hard to prepare them for racing. Under the hood it hides a 4.700cc V8 engine and it uses Pirelli tires to transfer the power produced to the road. Next year, Maserati will celebrate 100 years of existence and they have prepared a lot of surprises.

The championship will begin at Paul Ricard in France on the 28th of April, but on the 14th the test session will take place at Misano. The model will also arrive on the legendary circuit of Nuerburgring, Germany in June with Silverstone. Next, we will see the car at Sonoma, California. This circuit is not far from San Francisco actually and will be the first stage held outside Europe. On the 3rd of November, the model will be on the circuit of Shanghai, China. On the 14th of December, Maserati with its GranTurismo MC Trofeo will participate in a competition held in the United Arab Emirates.

To spice things up a little and to balance things out on the track, a new rule will come into play for the quickest drivers. So, the drivers who place in the top five in the first two races in each round will have to pit for more than the obligatory 45 seconds in Race 3. This extra time will range from 5 seconds for the fifth-placed driver to 20 seconds for the driver in top spot. Also, the car must meet the entire technical regulations laid do by Maserati. The cost for the races is EUR120.000 and the cost of participation in the first round is EUR30.000. The Trofeo Europa is EUR70.000. These are all the information available on the matter for the moment.
