Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG

Germans from Mercedes-Benz have released several photos on the internet showing the new Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG. These re actually the first images we have on the vehicle without any camouflage what so ever. The most important rivals of the high performance hatch are the Bavarian model, BMW M135i capable of generating 315 horsepower and the German Audi RS3 which can also produce up to 335 horsepower.

The truth is that we do not really have the official release, but the carmaker confirmed the basic specifications of their Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG last November which should hold us still for a while. In case you really want to know, the newest and hottest addition to the A-Class family of the hatchback comes with a very heavily revised version of the 20-liter turbocharged inline-four petrol which apparently is capable of generating up to 350 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. To transfer the output to the new 4MATIC all-wheel drive system the engineers have provided an AMG SPDSIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission with dual clutch technology. This systems was offered for front wheel drive models. The German engineers have offered different modifications to the chassis of the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG and it now features new suspension and steering system settings and components, stronger brakes to handle the extra power, wide tracks and modified electronic aids.

The truth is that is it a bit hard to see the differences between the A45 AMG and the regular A-Class hatchbacks equipped with the AMG Sport styling package. The differences refer only to the alloy wheel design, the glossy black front lip spoiler and side trims. The twin-bar grille and the trapezoidal tailpipes are also new parts. The carmaker will reveal it next month at the 2013 edition of the Geneva Motor Show.
