Germans from Mercedes-Benz have revealed their new achievement, the new 2013 Mercedes-Benz E300 BlueTEC HYBRID. To demonstrate that is the most efficient model ever made in the E-Class, the specialists have run some tests in the UK. One of the participants, the driver was Mick Linford. He started the test at Newquay Cornwall Airport. Here he tested the top speed and the acceleration time of the new E300 Hybrid. The results were actually quite promising. It managed to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in a bit more over seven seconds and it reached a top speed of 136 mph. After these tests, the driver continued its road, but at normal speed for another 830 miles until he reached Wick Airport all the way in Scotland.
All the activities lasted for two whole days with real-world conditions. It was difficult because of the challenging weather and also the heavy traffic. Anyway, in the end the new Mercedes-Benz E300 BlueTEC HYBRID obtained a fuel consumption of 67.3 mpg UK. To take the trip the car had only a tank of fuel. At the end of the journey there was still a quarter of fuel left in the tank. As a conclusion, Mercedes-Benz specialists said the new car would have been capable of a range of more than 1.100 miles.
For the ones that do not know yet, the model is powered by a 2.1-liter diesel engine that also obtains the help of an electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery. The engine enables the car to produce 201 BHP and 500 Nm of torque and the electric motor also adds another 20 kW of power. All the output is being transferred to the wheels through a 7G-Tronic automatic transmission. Anyway, the incredible fuel economy was possible thanks to a hybrid system connected to the fuel-efficient 4-cylinder diesel engine and an electric motor all mated to the transmission mentioned above.
The price for the new Mercedes E300 BlueTEC HYBRID was established at GBP39.645 for the saloon version and GBP41.435 for the estate.
