These days at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt, Mercedes is presenting its grand coupe. After a series of teaser images and spy photos the German manufacturer has finally released the Concept S-Class Coupe. As the 2014 Saloon Mercedes S-Class provides new safety features and intelligent technologies, the Coupe version adds to these features a superb exterior look.
On the Mercedes S-Class Coupe, as the traditional top of their product range, the designers take advantage of their additional freedom and thus create an automotive masterpiece. Its perfect design combines emotion and tradition and offers the model an iconic view and an expression of modern luxury. Although the exterior design reflects new and modern lines the unmistakable Mercedes look was not modified. From the first view you can recognize the Coupe as being a Mercedes-Benz.
The front fascia is more aggressive and in the rear, the taillights feature a new horizontal appearance. The dynamic spirit is emphasized by the muscle above the rear axle protruding from the side wall. Presented as the top-of-the-line model the Coupe rides on a set of 21-inch wheels and measures 5050mm long, 1985mm wide and 1409mm tall. The axle distance adds a generous 2945mm wheelbase. The engine lineup is carried over from the 4,633cc V8 Biturbo engine that delivers 455 bhp (339 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft).
On the inside the view is focused on simplicity, flowing lines and a white dominated panel. Because of a new airbag packaging the instrument panel gets a grandiose display. The ventilation nozzles have a futuristic and highly detailed design and are fitted as a four-piece cluster in the centre of the instrument panel. As a curiosity a touch screen that features four world clocks is situated on the centre console. This world clock concept was created by designers and engineers at the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Center in Palo Alto, California, USA. Luxury at home when you see the high-quality black diamond central command unit. Among other interior highlight we can add aluminum door panels of the Concept S-Class Coupe, supple calfskin seats with dynamic and natural flow of lines and a roofline made from hand-woven silk.
For those who put their safety first and who appreciate a very intelligent car, the 2014 Mercedes S-Class Coupe lines up with a lot of standard and optional active and passive safety technologies called Intelligent Drive. You can even detect the position and movement of the surrounding objects thanks to a stereo camera with 6DVision ranging of up to 500 meters and a three-dimensional view area that covers up to 50 meters in front of the vehicle. And for customers who really enjoy comfort the Concept S-Class Coupe comes with a MAGIC BODY CONTROL that foresees the road undulations and adjusts the suspension in advance to suit the situation. The Mercedes fans are surely looking forward to seeing the production version that will probably be showcased in January 2014 at the North American International Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.
