We had the opportunity to see a lot of new models revealed at the Auto Show held in Detroit and time has come to move on to the Montreal Auto Show and the new sub compact hatchback developed by Mitsubishi for the North American market. The carmaker did not name the model yet, but it is a lot similar to the redesigned Mirage that we saw two years ago, at the 2011 edition of the Tokyo Auto Show. There is no way of knowing whether the model will be found on the market under the same name or not in the fall, when it goes on sale in Canada. At the Tokyo debut we saw it covered in a strange green shade, but the Canadian model is a bit different. The highlight is that it is three inches longer, maybe thanks to the new rear fascia that also looks different featuring altered lines and small, circular reflectors, for a change.
The model is being produced in Thailand and it receives power from a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder MIVEC engine. It uses a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT unit to transfer the output to the wheels. Specialists hope to obtain great fuel economy in the city, on the highway and on a combine cycle as well. It will be available in 84 dealerships and it will rank as one of the most affordable and fuel efficient new cars in Canada. The new Mitsubishi Mirage for Canada measures 3.780 mm in length, 1.665 mm in width, 1,500 mm in height and the wheelbase measures 2.450 mm. To transfer the output to the road the engineers have provided 165/65 R14 tires. The output of the engine reaches 74 horsepower and 74 lb .ft. of torque. The 2014 model comes with the best warranty in the world: 10 years or 160.000 km limited power train, five years or 100.000 km limited new vehicle and five years, unlimited mileage roadside assistance.
