To be more precise, the carmaker will introduce a new model and just to be clear, we are talking about a new concept version of the new 2013 Opel Adam R2 rally car Concept. Opel only returned back to Motorsport last year in the fall with the ADAM Cup. The new concept was built based on FIA R2 regulations. The carmaker announced the fact that the final development and homologation of the new 2013 Opel Adam R2 rally car Concept are planned to take place along 2013.
With the new model, the manufacturer takes another step in its new Motorsport strategy. How? By offering a top-class vehicle for international customer rallying; this will be eligible for every national championship in Europe. The engineers have provided special components for the body. Under the hood it hides a 1.6-liter ECOTEC 16V with variable camshaft phasing capable of generating 185 horsepower and 190 Nm of maximum torque. To transfer the output to the road, the engineers have provided a Sadev sequential 5-speed transmission and a limited-slip differential with a multi-disc lock. The set-up of the chassis guarantees maximum traction and dynamic handling. To handle the extra power, the new 2013 Opel Adam R2 rally car Concept receives a braking system with a hydraulic hand-brake, Brembo piston brake calipers and braking pressure regulation for the rear axle.
In terms of equipment, the model contains an integrated safety structure, SPARCO Competition racing seats that match the HANS driver safety system; it also contains a cockpit with an LCD gear indicator, control light, MONIT trip computer and a lot more. The model has as base the new ADAM Cup variant and promotes customer rallying. This is all the information available so far.
