Opel Cascada at IAA

Opel has big plans for its customers and potential customers as well. According to them, they are preparing to offer a new version of the 1.6-liter SIDI Turbo engine capable of generating 200 horsepower to their Cacada. The new unit will be revealed for the first time at the 2013 edition of the Frankfurt Motor Show that will take place next month. Actually this is the first time Opel will show the high-performance version of the new mid-size convertible that tops the Cascada gasoline portfolio. The new 1.6-liter SIDI turbo is capable of generating 11 % more power so that is 200 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque in comparison to its predecessor the 1.6-liter turbo. At the same time, the new engine has an output of 125 horsepower.

Thanks to this amount of power, the model is capable of reaching a top speed of 235 km/h. In terms of fuel consumption, the model uses 6.7 liters per 100 km and the CO2 emission level reaches 158 g/km. The engineers wanted to combine high power output with great driving pleasure to be sure the driver gets incredible comfort. The exclusive HiPerStrut (High Performance Strut, front suspension further enhances these refined driving characteristics). The 200 horsepower gasoline direct injection unit is part of the offensive developed by Opel in terms of power trains. The model uses a 6-speed manual transmission that can be ordered front the fall. We will have more details once the IAA starts.
