Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak

Known internationally with over 60 million vehicles running throughout the world, Peugeot has a history of over 200 years. Combining brain and soul it became a complex company in the auto field. It is also a well known brand in the sports cars field. The company made clear its intention to compete in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with the new Peugeot 208 T16 race car.

After a few teaser photos, we finally have a true “flash and blood” one.  The Peugeot 208 T16 is ready to face competition dressed up in a Red Bull costume which covers its carbon fiber body and the steel frame chassis. And being a sports car, the sport tuned suspension with some high performance brakes are a must have. The vehicle sits on a set of custom alloys wrapped in Michelin tires.

The Peugeot 208 T16 is powered by a twin-turbo 3.2-liter V6 engine which generates 875 bhp (652 kW). This is linked to a six-speed sequential transmission and an all-wheel drive system that allows the 875 kg (1,929 lb) race car to go from stand point to 100 km/h in just 1.8 seconds.

The Peugeot 208 T16 will race in the 2013 Pikes Peak Hill Climb and it will be driven by nine time WRC world champion Sebastien Loeb. He will try to face the 20 km (12.4 mile) that feature 156 turns and a 1500 meter (4921 foot) elevation change. The French auto manufacturer won the competition in 1988 and in 1989 with a Peugeot 405 T16. What the Lion brand will manage to achieve this year remains to be seen on June 30 in Colorado, USA.
