According to the French carmaker Renault, their new Clio GT hatchback will have a starting price of GBP17.395. The new model actually sits between the TCe 90 Dynamique S MediaNav and the top of the range capable of generating 200 horsepower. Developed by Renaultsport, the new model Clio GT-Line TCe 120 EDC receives power from a new turbocharged direct-injection 1.2-liter petrol engine developed by the brand. To transfer the output to the wheels, the engineers have offered a 6-speed Efficient Dual Clutch transmission through steering column-mounted gear shift paddles.
The new models will also come with a Sport Chassis as standard with 40 % stiffer dampers and specific stops. There is also the R.S. Drive which offers two driving modes: Normal and Sport. It also retains the multi-change down function of the 200 Turbo EDC, by holding down the downshift paddle. The new engine produces 190 Nm of torque which enables the car to reach a top speed of 121 mph and to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 9.9 seconds. In terms of fuel consumption, the model is capable of achieving 54.3 mpg on the combined cycle and 120 g/km CO2 emissions. These numbers indicate zero road tax in the first year and only GBP30 thereafter. The new Clio received a lot of design cues from Renaultsport like the grille, the GT front and rear bumpers, but also the specific rear lip spoiler, the LED daytime running lights, twin chrome exhaust tailpipes and GT badging both front and rear.
To transfer the output to the road, the engineers have offered 17-inch anthracite GT alloy wheels and also anthracite door mirrors and rear diffuser. For the interior, the specialists have provided an up market boasting dark carbon GT upholstery matched with details picked out in chrome and gloss black. The model is also package with the latest technology, including the 7-inch touch screen R-Link multi-media system with integrated TomTom Live satellite navigation and three months TomTom Live Service subscription, Application Store and Eco Driving Menu. The model also comes with ABS, ECT, HAS and others, all as standard.
