Seat Leon Cup Racer at Worthersee

This month at Worthersee, Spanish carmaker Seat will present the Leon Cup Racer. According to the manufacturer, the model will be offered to customer teams for the 2014 season. The new front end of the model was designed for optimum aerodynamic efficiency. It is capable of maximum airflow to the engine and has a great brake system. As you can see in the photo gallery, the new Leon has the distinctive LED headlamps with the highly individual signature of their daytime running lights. The roofline also looks like the series-production model, just like the characteristic lines and precise blisters of the side view. The manufacturer has tried to reduce the weight of the car selecting carefully the interior. In terms of protection, the engineers have offered a high-strength roll cage. The model also has the bucket seat with HANS head-protection system which also offers optimum safety. The car is upholstered with specially developed leather that is exceptionally good at regulating moisture.

Under the hood, the new Seat Leon Cup Racer hides a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine capable of generating 330 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. To transfer the output to the wheels, the engineers have offered a 6-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox controlled from the steering wheel and electronically controlled differential lock. A special variant of the model for endurance racing can be equipped with a sequential racing transmission with a shift lever on the center console and a mechanical differential lock. The model with the DSG transmission will cost EUR70.000 and the endurance version with a sequential transmission and mechanical differential lock will cost EUR95.000.

The new Seat Leon Cup Racer will be joined on the Seat stand by five more, extremely fiery and individually equipped versions of the Ibiza and Leon models. These are all the info we have on the model for the moment.
