Skoda Octavia III

It is true, for many North Americans, Skoda is a foreign name. The situation is a bit different in Europe, where the brand is no stranger. Their Octavia, small car has as competitors the Ford Focus, Opel Astra and also the VW Golf series. Actually there is a more powerful connection to the last one as back in 2000, the Germans have bought the Czech subsidiary. This is not all. The Skoda Octavia comes together with the Golf and Audi A3 using the MQB platform. In the last eight years, the model could be found as a sedan and as a wagon.

The 2013 Skoda Octavia compact is available with a new, fresh design decided to make its way inside the already crowded segment. The new model borrowed some elements from the VisionD concept car that was presented last year in March at the Geneva Motor Show, but even so, it looks a lot like a slightly modified Jetta. The roofline makes it more aggressive and so do the lower hard creases running the length of the doors. The grille is intersected by a snout that runs up the center of the hood. The lower air intake features a honeycomb pattern insert. The headlights with LED running lamps appear non-dramatic, but even so, they look rather crisp. The projector lamps are found in black bezels with subtle channels that reflect light. These mimic the waterfall bars for a greater effect. In the end we have to admit the new Skoda Octavia kept the appeal of its predecessor. This can only mean good news for the European customers. Competition on the North American market could be quite tough with all the big companies that have established their territory.
