Icona Vulcano in Shanghai

We have more info now on the new model revealed by Icona, the Vulcano. The carmaker has unveiled the model a couple of days ago, after a long wait at the Shanghai Auto Show, of course. Last week we have received a lot of teaser images, but our waiting days are over. The model hides a front engine V12 capable of developing 900 horsepower thanks to a perfect combination of combustion engine and electric motors. The model can accelerate reaching a top speed of 350 km/h and it can accelerate from 0 to 200 km/h in less than 10.0 seconds. Besides the engine, the design of the car is an incredible one trying to express its amazing capabilities. Claudio Lombardy, one of the most successful Italian motor engineers has managed to win a lot of prizes along his career and he is now doing a great job with Icona. In the last two years, Lombardy founded AIPA to develop different power train concepts to make the most of the combination of combustion engines and electric motors for innovative integral power train.

Maybe not a lot of you remember, but last year at the same event, Icona has presented the Fuselage, a new aerodynamic electric concept car that received a lot of support. The specialists got the idea of developing the Vulcano when Icona was invited to exhibit the Fuselage at the 27th Festival Automobile International in Paris. At the beginning, the specialists wanted to use a front engine layout and to use a strongly sculpted body side which would evacuate that hot air from the engine and reduce the air turbulence generated by the wheels. Icona Shanghai was founded at the beginning of 2010 and unites the best of European design, engineering, modeling and prototyping experience in the automotive sector.
