QC3 compact model from Qoros, a relative new brand manufacturer from China will be known from now by the name of 3 Sedan. Although Alexander Wortberg, Qoros’ Director of Production was once at Bavarian Producer BMW there are no similarities with the other German brand. In world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show the 3 Sedan ,3 Cross Hybrid and 3 Estate Concepts will be seen together. The real picture where already provided by the manufacturer.
A new assembly factory in Changshu, China will be initially able to produce a capacity of 150,000 units per year, with potential for expansion production to 450,000 units, according to the Director of Production. Sales will begin during the second half of 2013, in its home market and by the end of the year, in Europe. The new models will not wait long and will soon be presented at intervals of approximately six months. Qoros 3 Sedan ,3 Cross Hybrid and 3 Estate Concepts will be premium products. To achieve this the producer collaborates with a number of international suppliers such as Magna Steyr, TRW, Continental, Bosch, Getrag, Benteler, Lear, Microsoft, Harman, Neusoft-Alpine and Iconmobile, in the development and engineering of the cars components.
Even thought there is no Euro NCAP rating yet the manufacturer is confident that his high quality models will “achieve top scores on both European and Chinese crash tests.
Qoros will challenge mid-size saloon models as VW Jetta and Opel / Vauxhall Astra with his first production model, the 3 Sedan that will have 4,615mm (181.7 inches) long and 1,839mm (72.4 inches) wide and will launch with a pair of 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol engines, a naturally aspirated version producing 125hp (126PS) and 155Nm, and a turbocharged variant with 154hp (156PS) and 210Nm of torque.
Developed with the support of AVL the 3 Sedan is also planning to provide a performant three-cylinder 1.2-liter turbocharged engine and a brand-new four-cylinder 1.6-liter turbocharged engine, both featuring GDI (gasoline direct injection) technology.
As the name suggests the Cross Hybrid is a high-riding car, five-door hatchback version of the series .To be in line with top car manufacturers it is launched with two electric motors and a 1.2-liter turbo three-cylinder petrol engine. The first electric motor is mounted above the rear axle while the second electric motor (the Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) will be located in between. The three motor system offers different driving modes, such as petrol-engine front-wheel drive, electric motor rear-wheel drive, and an all-wheel drive mode, depending on the conditions and drivers wishes. Based on the sedan model, in order to optimize functionality, Qoros is presenting a roomier Estate body that will have a variety of attachment fittings and storage compartments. It will also be provided with a rear seat bench that folds flat ensuring a generous volume.
