Toyota 4Runner

After a set of teaser photos, Toyota has just introduced its updated mid-sized SUV, the 2014 Toyota 4Runner, at the Stagecoach Music Festival near Palm Springs, California. The latest 4Runner will come in the same three trim levels as it used to: SR5, Limited and Trail. And the future clients can choose between 4x2 or 4x4 variants.

Toyota officials declare that EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings are 17 mpg (13.8 l/100 km) city and 23 mpg (10.2 l/100 km) highway for 4x2 models, and 17 mpg city and 22 mpg (10.7 l/100 km) highway for 4x4 models. Maximum towing capacity is 5,000 pounds (2,268 kg) and all vehicles are characterized by an integrated tow-hitch receiver and wiring harness as standard equipment. The 2014 Toyota 4Runner keeps the same engine configuration as before. It takes its power from a V6 4.0-liter source generating 270 bhp (201 kW) and 278 lb-ft (376 Nm). This is mated to a 5-speed ECT-I automatic transmission.

The 2014 Toyota 4Runner SR5 and Limited versions can be provided with third-row seating, which turns them into 7-seater cars. Limited model has a leather-trimmed interior with ventilated driver/front passenger seats which are 8-way power-adjustable for the driver and 4-way for the front passenger. The SR5 and Trail versions ride on a set of 17-inch alloy wheels with a new design. The Limited version runs on 20-inch alloy wheels that are painted black for added contrast. A full-size spare wheel is standard on all of these three.

Regarding its appearance the 2014 Toyota 4Runner benefits from changes both on the inside and on the outside. It has a redesigned front fascia which makes the look a little bit more aggressive, a massive front grille, smoked headlights and a roof track. At the back, the vehicle has LED lights and new trims for the tailgate and bumper. The interior is totally updated. It is equipped with multi-information display, new Optitron instrument panel and a few modifications regarding the trim. Other equipments include the brand's Entune infotainment system and an in-glass antenna which replaces the old mast unit. For extra charging customers can choose a 7-inch display as part of the navigation system. There is no word of the pricing yet.
