Japanese carmaker Toyota revealed the first pictures of their upcoming model, the 2013 Toyota Auris. The specialists have plans to present it for the first time to the public at the Paris Motor Show in September and to send it for sale starting with next year. All vehicles will be built in Derbyshire at the Burnaston factory. A couple of month ago we saw the model for the first time in some leaked pictures, but now, the carmaker revealed new ones that show the real 2013 Toyota Auris. The difference between the pictures revealed now is not so big in comparison with the ones revealed now.
What we do know is that the new model is lower and longer than the current model found on the market. Its weight also depends on the version. For example, it can be up to 40 kg lighter than its predecessor, but stiffer. The engineers offer customers the possibility to choose between gasoline, diesel and hybrid power trains. The new Toyota Auris will be available with a 1.3-liter gasoline engine, a 1.6-liter gasoline one and a 1.4-liter diesel unit. As mentioned above, the new Auris will also be offered as a hybrid and will be powered by a 1.8-liter gasoline / electric motor which will feature a nickel-metal hydride battery layout.
The new Japanese model has 4.275 mm in length, 1.760 mm in width and1.460 mm in height. This only means it is 30 mm longer and 55 mm lower that the current model. The wheelbase is 2.600 mm and the boot space measures 360 liters. In case of the hybrid version, the new Auris offers 127 liters boot space, so 6 liters more. Unfortunately these are all the information available until the Auto Show takes place in Paris, next month.
