Toyota Motor Corporation is a Japanese company that has high expectations. It has unique ideas to design amazing cars and to satisfy even the most difficult client. Now the company is about to reveal an upgraded version of the EV P002 and has plans of running it in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on July 8th.
The Toyota EV P002 will be driven by Rod Millen who is going to try and defend the record of 10 minutes and 15.380 seconds. Toyota has great expectations from this vehicle which has been brought up to date with some upgraded electric motors and optimized parameters especially modified for the competition. In order to face the challenge, the car has received a better aerodynamic package with some massive front and rear spoilers.
The Toyota EV P002 is powered by a 42 kWh lithium-ion battery that offers energy to two electric motors which generate 544 HP (400 kW) and 1,200 Nm (885 lb-ft) of torque. This ought to allow the vehicle to reach a maximum speed of 230 km/h (143 mph). The only thing we have to do now is to wait and see whether or not Toyota’s EV can defend its title.
