We are getting closer by the day from the new edition of the Tokyo Auto Salon that will take place a week before the Detroit Motor Show in January. Many carmakers have announced a lot of new debuts and apparently we will have the possibility to enjoy a lot of new surprises and achievements.
For example, know that Gazoo Racing, motorsports and tuning partner with Toyota will host the world debut of a very special Toyota FT86 coupe, also known as the Toyota GRMN FR Concept Platinum. Unfortunately the only pictures we could get are the ones in the photo gallery which do not say a lot, but, it is still something, right? The new model comes with a unique body that features different front and rear ends and with different interior upgrades, like for example bucket seats.
If you really must know and if the mane of the car sounds a bit familiar do not be surprised to know that the Toyota GRMN FR Concept Platinum shares its performance upgrades with another model revealed at the Goodwood Festival in the UK, a few month ago, the GRMN Sport FR Concept.
Anyways, the new Japanese achievement receives power from a twin-charged, super- and turbo-charged, 2.0-liter boxer unit that is capable of generating 325 horsepower and 431 Nm of torque. To transfer all this power to the rear wheels, the engineers have provided a 6-speed manual transmission that uses a new limited slip differential. Moving on, other performance upgrades include a new suspension setup and to send the power to the road, 18-inch wheels covered in 245 / 40 R 18 tires on the front axle and 265 / 35 R 18 tires on the rear one. More info will be released in around 1 week, until then, please check out the photo gallery below.
