Superchips is a tuning company which has a unique range of tuning upgrades for most modern petrol engines, both turbo and non-turbo, and turbo-diesels. They are market leaders, and also pioneers, in engine ECU remaps for enthusiastic drivers. Each vehicle comes with a performance restriction from the factory. The good news is that with a software update the limits can be crossed. The same thing happens to the Vauxhall Astra VXR GTC upgraded by the British specialists.
The Vauxhall Astra VXR GTC stock model is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged direct injection engine generating 280HP (206 kW) and 400Nm (296 lb-ft) of torque. The hatchback can run the 0-100 km/h in 6.0 seconds and it reaches a maximum speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). Well, Superchips comes up with a two stage tuning program for the powerful vehicle.
The first stage in the tuning program means some extra 23HP (17 kW) at 5,093 RPM and 61Nm (41 lb-ft) of torque. With those added on, the vehicle does the 0-100 km/h in 5.8 seconds. On the road the additional power can means one thing only, a sharper, even more exciting drive, with a crisper throttle response allied to greater urgency across the rev range. The possible customers will have to pay £455.00 for this Superchips ECU remap compatible with the March 2012 onwards Vauxhall Astra GTC VXR.
Stage number two supposes a calibration created to fit Vauxhall Astra GTC VXR 2.0T models which have a readily available free flowing aftermarket exhaust system and sports catalyst, sold individually through Superchips’ partner Thorney Motorsport. This stage increases the engine power with 32HP (24 kW) at 5,698 RPM and 75Nm (56 lb-ft) at 2,935 RPM. Both stages are offered with Customer Service Guarantee. So, all the Vauxhall owners who want a more furious car can confidently choose the Superchip program.
