German carmaker Volkswagen is already thinking about the summer and the road trips we are going to do this year. How exactly? Well, the specialists are expanding their range of camping and lifestyle vehicles with the launch of the new VW Caddy Maxi Camper. The model has five seats, it is compact and affordable and it has a fold-out double bed, portable table, two deck chairs, electronic box and a lot more elements that will make your trip enjoyable for sure. The best thing about it is that it is a car perfect for the everyday use and also it is perfect as a base-camp for outdoor hobbies and camping holidays. It measures 4.8 meters in length and 1.8 meters in height. The carmaker has established a starting price of GBP23.397 and it is the most compact and affordable model in the camper range. Here we also have to mention the California Beach and SE models, but also the Caravelle.
When it comes to the Caddy's interior, the rear seats are folded down and the front seats are tipped forward, the double bed we have mentioned unfolds to offer a flat double bed measuring 1.1 x 2.0 meters. There is also a privacy curtain which attaches around the interior windows. In case you need more space, the awning, measuring 2.3 m x 2.0 m simply attaches clips around the tailgate to provide extra outdoor living space. When you are on the road, the table, chairs and awning fit into bespoke storage spacers in the rear. There is more. When not camping, the fold-out bed behind the rear seats can be removed to give a generous 1.6 m3 of space for bikes, for example. A roof box or bike rack can be added in case more storage space is required. The engines available for the new VW Caddy Maxi Camper are a 1.6-liter TDI capable of generating 102 PS and a 2.0-liter TDI capable of producing 140 PS. To transfer the output to the wheels, the engineers have provided a DSG transmission available for both models.
