Germans from Volkswagen have launched a lot of models from the beginning of this year and until now. Just a reminder, we are talking about the new Golf GTI, GTD, Estate and Golf TDI BlueMotion. Now, thanks to the 2013 edition of the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Germans have revealed the Golf R, which according to different VW specialists, this is the most powerful production Golf ever made. This model will be the main attraction of the VW stand.
The model receives power from a 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged gasoline unit capable of generating 300 PS. This actually means that the new R model is 30 PS stronger in comparison to the outgoing model and it is also 18 % more fuel efficient. All together the output for the torque reaches 380 Nm which means it produces 30 Nm more. To transfer the output to the road, the engineers have offered a 6-speed DSG transmission which enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and to reach an electronically limited speed of 250 km/h. The specialists have offered all wheel drive system that sends the power to all four wheels. We are actually talking about the latest version of the 4MOTION system that has a 5th generation Haldex coupling.
The engineers have also offered a new progressive steering system and ESC Sport. This last one can now be deactivated when driving on a racetrack. Other elements added include the DCC dynamic chassis control system that also comes with a Race mode. When the new model is coupled to the DSG gearbox, the fuel consumption reaches 6.9 liters per 100 km, mainly due to the standard Stop-Start system and battery regeneration. The European customers will be able to purchase it for EUR38.325. And will be available starting with the 4th quarter of the year.
