Volkswagen Golf VI R Cabriolet

The new VW Golf VI R Cabriolet is no longer a mystery to us as the German manufacturer has decided to offer up more information on their latest achievement. The new VW Golf VI R Cabriolet is actually the first ever open-top R model and the fastest-ever production open-top Golf. To receive power it needs a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter engine that is capable of producing 265 horsepower. This power plant is being offered as standard for the new top of the range cabriolet. To transfer all the output to the front wheels, the engineers have provided a 6-speed DSG transmission also offered as standard. All this output enables the model to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 6.4 seconds and to reach an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.

In terms of design cues, the new vehicle features gloss-black grille and an R logo, LED daytime running lights, bi-xenon headlights with black housings, gloss-black door mirror casings and the brake calipers with the R logo are painted in black. To complete the look, German designers have also offered side sill extensions, a gloss black rear diffuser framed by chrome-tipped exhausts both side, and also smoked LED tail lights. The ride of the model was lowered by 25 mm thanks to the bespoke R suspension, in comparison with the standard Golf Cabriolet. The available wheels measure 18- or 19-inch Sterling Silver or, as optionally, High-gloss Black.

On the inside we will find four individual sports seats in Vienna Cool Leather and R Logos in the head restraints, while the leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, gear lever and handbrake grip all have contrasting grey stitching. The new VW Golf VI R Cabriolet has a starting price of GBP38.770 and will be available from the spring.
