Today, at the Los Angeles International Auto Show, Acura revealed the new 2014 RLX. We had the opportunity to see it as a concept at the New York Auto Show a bit earlier. As we can see, the production version of the model is not a lot different from the concept. It also got different trims for the bumpers and smaller wheels than the concept study. This is actually the first time we see the interior of the RLX. Beside all the comfort and convenience features the model also has an 8-inch Navigation screen and a 7-inch On-Demand Multi-Use Display touch screen, power sunroof and tri-zone climate control. The list continues with Bluetooth Hands FreeLink, power tilt and telescoping steering and so on. The RLX is the first Acura to use the precision All-Wheel Steer that functions with the Vehicle Stability Assist that includes the Traction Control and Agile Handling Assist dynamic braking system.
The new model will be available in the States starting next year in the spring. Under the hood it hides a 3.5-liter V6 engine with Variable Cylinder Management capable of generating 310 horsepower and 272 lb. ft. of torque. Despite the fact that a lot of carmaker have decided to use a 7, 8 or soon a 9-speed automatic transmission to transfer the output to the wheels, the Japanese manufacturer offered its previous Sequential SportShift 6-speed automatic gearbox for its new 2014 Acura RLX sedan. According to the specialist the RLX range will be enhanced with a hybrid model that will be equipped with the new Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive technology. Under the hood will have a 3.5-liter direct injected V6 and will use a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. It will also have three electric motors for a combined output of 370 horsepower.
