Audi RS7 Sportback

This year at the 2013 edition of the North American International Auto Show that take place in Detroit, German carmaker Audi has introduced the new 2014 Audi RS7 Sportback. The 5-door coupe uses a 4.0-liter TFSI engine capable of generating 560 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. This output enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and to reach a top speed of 305 km/h. The average fuel consumption reaches 9.8 liters per 100 km. The carmaker limits the top speed in the standard configuration to 250 km/h. Equipped with the optional dynamic package, the model can reach a top speed of 280 km/h and equipped with the dynamic package plus it can reach 305 km/h.

Now, the most innovative efficiency technology in the new Audi RS7 Sportback is the cylinder on demand system, also known as the COD. At low to medium loads and engine speeds, it deactivates cylinders 2, 3, 5 and 8 by closing their valves through electromechanical actuators. The operating points in the active cylinders are displaced toward higher loads, increasing efficiency. The new model uses as standard an 8-speed Tiptronic that is specially tuned to the sporty character of the RS7 Sportback. Also, as standard the model comes with Quattro permanent all-wheel drive system that has a center differential with a high locking rate and a separate oil cooler to regulate its temperature.

The Germans also offer the optional sport differential for the rear axle, which uses two superposition gears to actively distribute the power between the wheels. As standard, the car uses 20-inch forged lightweight wheels and as optional 21-inch wheels are also available. To handle the extra power, engineers have offered powerful brakes located behind the large wheels. Thanks to the air suspensions, the new Audi RS7 Sportback is very comfortable.
