The 2013 edition of the New York International Auto Show is getting closer and closer. Many carmakers will try to be ready by then and present their new achievements. General Motors is one of them and we suspected it will introduce the new 2014 Cadillac CTS sedan. Not long ago, the American carmaker confirmed that information and so all we have to do is wait for it to begin. It is a bit sad that they do not want us to see any pictures until the big day, but they have confirmed details on the engine lineup. Apparently this will include a new 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged V6 gasoline unit which uses an 8-speed automatic transmission to send the power to the wheels. Both the engine and the transmission are a first for the brand.
The new 2014 Cadillac CTS sedan brings with it advanced technology that enables it to deliver power and sophistication. This new model is proof that the carmaker is doing incredible efforts to expand the brand. The new unit is actually an SAE-certified one capable of generating 420 horsepower and 430 lb. ft. of torque. The new model produces 118 horsepower per liter which means it is much better than the BMW 535i which produces 300 horsepower with its 3.0-liter six engine and a lot better than the 550i powered by a 4.4-liter V8 capable of generating 400 horsepower.
Equipped with the 3.6-liter engine and the new 8-speed automatic transmission, the new 2014 model is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds and to reach a top speed of 170 mph. When it will be launched, the 2014 Cadillac CTS will come with a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V6 engine rated at 321, but also with a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder one capable of generating 272 horsepower. Both versions can also come with AWD as an option.
