Carmaker Chevrolet introduced the new Spark EV before the Los Angeles International Auto Show. Their new achievement features great smart performance and connectivity technologies for such a five-door urban mini car. The carmaker has established a starting price of $25.000 including tax and it is scheduled to go on sale next summer.
The model is powered by a General Motors-designed coaxial drive unit and an electric motor capable of generating 130 horsepower and 400 lb. ft. of torque. There is also a 560-pound lithium-ion battery pack that comes with an 8-year / 100.000-mile warranty. The new Chevrolet Spark EV will be the first electric vehicle to offer SAE Combo DC Fast Charging capability which in fact enables an 80% charge in only 20 minutes. The carmaker is proud to say that the charging time via a dedicated 240 V outlet is less than seven hours.
For the interior, the specialists have offered two reconfigurable, high-resolution 7-inch LCD screens with a gauge that shows the estimated remaining range. The list continues with MyLink smart phone-based infotainment system that also has a great deal of apps. In addition to previously announced markets including South Korea and California, the new model will also be available throughout Oregon, Canada and other global markets. In the manufacturing process, the carmaker has decided to help customers conserve as much total energy as possible to maximize battery range. The designers and aerodynamic engineers have added the equivalent of around 2.5 miles of real-world range. Customers now have the possibility to choose between different colors for their model. To be more precise, the carmaker is offering Electric Blue, Black Granite, Silver Ice, Titanium and Summit White. The cockpit offers a lot of space so that passengers feel comfortable.
