Chevrolet SS

For the 2013 NASCAR championship, Chevrolet is preparing to compete with a completely new model called the Chevy SS. We had the opportunity to see it for the first time in November in Las Vegas at the Auto Show. Unfortunately we still have to wait a bit longer to see the production version of the car, which according to the manufacturer will not be built in the US. In fact, to be more precise, the building process will take place in the opposite part, in Australia. The new Chevrolet SS has as base the Zeta architecture and so, the carmaker will not bring something completely new to the market. The SS is scheduled to go on sale in 2013 as a 2014 model. General Motors tried again to get the Commodore in the US after the Pontiac division was dissolved. The specialists continue to think that they still have a great chance with the Commodore in Australia and so have developed a redesigned new version. Different indicators tell us the model will contain a lot of technological and interior quality advances in comparison with the current Commodore and previous G8.

Under the hood it hides a 6.2-liter supercharged LSA V8 engine capable of generating 580 horsepower. The bumper is more aggressively styled as it features a larger honeycomb lower grille that even reaches to the sides of the prominent round fog lights. The engineers have also employed a lip spoiler to improve its visual stance and to help the car at higher speeds. The specialists might also offer further chassis refinements like adaptive damping and beefier Brembo brakes to handle the extra power. Also, there is a chance the new Chevrolet SS will get radar cruise control and active city stop automated braking systems. To transfer the output to the wheels, the specialists will provide a 6-speed manual with an automatic one offered as optional.
