We will now offer you more info on the first rear-wheel drive performance sedan in 17 years, the 2014 Chevrolet SS. Under the hood, the model hides a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine capable of generating 415 horsepower and 415 lb. ft. of torque. This is actually 35 horsepower and lb. ft. of torque less than the C6 Corvette. This output will enable the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph on approximately 5.0 seconds, making it the fastest sedan on the market. The power is being sent to the wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddles on the steering wheel. To handle the extra power, the engineers have provided a 4-piston Brembo calipers up front, a single sliding piston in the black. The model uses 19-inch forged aluminum wheels to transfer the output to the road. Each of the wheels supports 50 % of the weight of the sedan.
For the interior, the specialists have provided leather seating surfaces, eight-way power front seats and a soft-touch dash, all offered as standard. The cabin seats comfortably five adults. The SS emblem is prominently stitched onto the soft-touch instrument panel which features two types of chrome finishes, a satin gloss and bright chrome.
In terms of standard equipment we have to mention Bose Nine-speaker premium sound system, color heads-up display, push-button start, StabiliTrack electronic Stability Control, Forward Collision Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert and also a Rear-vision camera Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The new Chevrolet SS also is the first Chevy to offer Automatic Parking Assist.
The ones interested in owing one of these models should know they will be available in the 4th quarter of this year. Unfortunately we do not know the starting price, which will be revealed closer to the on-sale date.
