The North American customers will receive the 2014 Chevrolet SS starting this fall. The carmaker announced that fact that the model will have a starting price of $44.470 including a $995 destination charge. This model is actually the first rear-drive performance sedan since 1996 developed by Chevrolet and comes well-equipped with a power-operated sunroof and full-size spare tire. These two are actually the only options.
The new SS managed to solidify the position of Chevrolet as the best-selling performance car brand in America that also includes the all new 2014 Corvette Singray and Camaro Z / 28. This is what Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing has declared. As standard equipment, the engineers have offered high intensity discharge headlamps with Light emitting diode daytime running lamps, automatic parking assist, Chevrolet MyLink with a color touch screen and GPS-based navigation system, dual-zone automatic climate, alloy pedal covers and heated and ventilated front seats with memory. The list continues with side blind zone alert and lane departure warning, keyless access and push-button start, but also rear-vision camera with rear-park assist.
The new Chevy SS comes equipped with a LS3 6.2-liter V8 engine capable of generating 415 horsepower and 415 lb. ft. of torque. This output enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in around 5.0 seconds. To transfer the power produced to the wheels, the engineers have offered a 6-speed automatic transmission that can also be shifted manually using TAPshift paddles mounted on the steering wheel. The model will be available in five exterior comes and all interiors will be Jet Black and will feature sport front bucket seats. More details on the price will be offered soon.
