The Ford Falcon has been manufactured by the Ford Motor Company of Australia since 1960. Each model from the XA series of 1972 onward has been designed, developed and built in Australia, following the phasing out of the American influenced Ford Falcon of 1960–71 which had been re-engineered locally for the harsher Australian conditions. The Ford Falcon is the best selling Australian made car and now we are faced with the introduction of the last ever Ford Falcon Ute.
The Ford Falcon Ute combines the fresh styling cues from the regular model and in standard form features a new set of 16-inch steel wheels and body-colored front bumper and door handles. The XR6 presented by Ford is equipped with updated 18-inch alloys, front fog lights, rain-sensing wipers and LED daytime running lights. Other goodies include Ford's SYNC2 infotainment system, dual antenna system, digital radio DAB+, WiFi hotspot support and a voice control system called "Karen" developed to Australian specification.
The Ford Falcon Ute is powered by an inline-six 4.0-liter gasoline engine that generates 261 bhp (195 kW) and 288 lb-ft (391 Nm) of torque. There is also a 4.0-litre straight-six EcoLPi engine rated at 265 bhp (198 kW) and 302 lb-ft (409 Nm) available. The Styleside box XR6 Turbo variant is powered by a 4.0 inline-six rated at 362 bhp (270 kW) and 393 lb-ft (533 Nm). Depending on the engine, it can be linked to a six-speed automatic transmission, six-speed manual or a six-speed auto with manual mode. There is no news about the price yet.
