Ford Fiesta new EcoBoost engine

The American carmaker Ford has now released the new 2014 Ford Fiesta which is now available in the US. The model comes with a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder EcoBoost engine which in fact makes the new Fiesta the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid, gasoline-powered car on the market. In terms of fuel consumption, the vehicle is capable of reaching 45 mpg on the highway, 32 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on a combined cycle. Just to be sure, all ratings are certified by the US Environmental Protection Agency and are applicable to both the 4-door sedan and 5-door hatchback.

To transfer the output to the road, the engineers have offered a 5-speed manual transmission. The tiny engine is capable of producing 123 horsepower and 125 lb. ft. of torque as output. The fuel economy was improved as well, thanks to the Fiesta SE Manual EcoBoost Package that includes a rear spoiler, side air deflectors, lower grille blockers and also low-resistance tires and underbody shields. In terms of technology, the engineers have offered a new MyFord Touch system with 6.5-liter touch screen that comes with improved voice control and Ford MyKey. This way, drivers will have the opportunity to configure maximum speed and audio volume limits. In terms of safety, the system was designed to be muted until safety belts are fastened and makes sure the driver aids will not deactivate different systems.

The Eco-Boost engine family includes the 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engine, the 1.5-liter, the 1.6-liter and also the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder one. The last one is a 3.5-liter V6. According to a study the carmaker made, 80 % of its global name plants will be available with EcoBoost engines, which is quite impressive.
