Asian carmaker Hyundai has finally decided to present in the flesh the new Genesis, after a lot of teaser images. The ones interested in the automotive world, and especially Hyundai, had the opportunity to see it for the first time in Seoul. So that you know, this is the 2nd generation of Genesis model that take advantage of the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. Just as expected, the model comes with shorter overhangs and has a special front grille with a semi-gloss chrome finish. The engineers offered a lot of attention to the exterior appearance and the functionality of the model and this is why we are now able to see bi-functional HID headlamps, LED indicators, fog lamps, but also LED taillights.
For the interior, designers have offered more premium materials and the storage space is now bigger by 3.7 liters, offering 26.9 liters. To transfer the output to the road, the engineers have offered 17 to 19-inch wheels, depending on the preference of the owner. The new Genesis was setup with a rear-wheel drive setup, but it can also come with a HTRAC all-wheel drive, if the owner wants it to. Under the hood it will hide a 3.0-liter V6 unit capable of generating 257 horsepower and 224 lb. ft. of torque. As optional, there is also a 3.3-liter V6with 282 horsepower and 256 lb. ft. of torque output. Next on the list is a 3.8-liter V6 unit with 315 horsepower and 293 lb. ft. of torque output and the top of the range is a 5.0-liter V8 unit that is capable of producing 425 horsepower and 383 lb. ft. torque.
To transfer the output to the road, the engineers have offered an 8-speed automatic gearbox which enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 8.6 seconds and to reach a top speed of 143 mph.
