The Geneva Motor Show has just passed and now we should all get ready for the next big automotive event, the New York International Auto Show. According to Japanese carmaker Infiniti, a new model will appear on the stage and to be more precise, we are talking about the new Infiniti QX60 Hybrid.
The new model is a gasoline electric hybrid model that will join the 2014 Infiniti QX60 premium crossover lineup in the US this summer. The world debut will take place in New York at the Auto Show. the carmaker will have a trio of advanced Direct Response Hybrids for the 2014 model year with the addition of the new QX60 Hybrid, the Q70 Hybrid, also known as the M Hybrid and the previously announced Q50 Hybrid. The new model QX60 was developed to reach 26 miles per gallon fuel economy on a combined and highway driving which in fact means an increase over non-hybrid QX60 models. The new model is projected to be priced around $3.000 above the non-hybrid models, providing lower CO2 emissions, enhanced fuel economy and extended driving range without a major price premium.
The model was first launched at the beginning of 2012 and has quickly become a very popular model in the luxury crossover market. It is also one of the best selling models as it has managed to capture family buyers with its advanced 7-passenger / 3-row seating and stunning exterior and interior styling. The model receives power from a 2.5-liter supercharged engine and from a 15 kW electric motor connected to an advanced CVT. The output is estimated at 250 horsepower. The result is a delivery of power equivalent to the 3.5-liter V6 with 4-cylinder fuel economy. The braking system partially recharges the battery during vehicle braking.
