This year, at the new edition of the New York International Auto Show, Jaguar carmaker scheduled the debut of the 2014 XJR, but apparently, the carmaker has unveiled it a bit earlier. The new model includes bespoke chassis and aerodynamic developments to create the most focused, agile and responsive member of the XJ family. It is a premium luxury supercar that also has an incredible look.
Under the hood the 2014 Jaguar XJR hides a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine capable of generating 550 PS and 680 Nm of torque. All this amount of power is being sent to the wheels through an 8-speed transmission which enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and to reach an electronically limited top speed of 174 km/h. The new Jaguar XJR uses special 20-inch lightweight forged alloy wheels which are shod with specially developed Pirelli tires. These offer a powerful stance and increase the grip and stability of the model. the engineers have optimized the active electronic differential and Dynamic Stability Control system in order to allow the enthusiastic driver to make the most of the great performance potential of the XJR. When operating in automatic mode, the gearbox can detect the manner in which the car is being driven by monitoring acceleration and braking, cornering forces, throttle and brake pedal activity and so on. Corner Recognition senses when the car is negotiating a bend.
The transmission will also recognize when the car is performing a series of overtaking maneuvers requiring fast changes in throttle position and, rather than change up, these remain in a lower gear ready for the next demand for acceleration. Both front and rear suspension systems have been carefully tuned. The appearance of the new XJR has been subtly modified in order to allow the car to achieve its full potential.
