Land Rover Range Rover Sport at Pikes Peak

So that you know, Land Rover has an announcement to make. Apparently the 2014 Range Rover Sport has established a new record. The model is the fastest production SUV to conquer Pikes Peak. The model managed to finish the 12.42-mile course in 12 minute 35.61 seconds, powering its way from the beginning. Its average speed was of 56.17 mph and had to maintain it despite of the snaking road that clings to the edge of the mountain which precipitous on one side and the unyielding rock that faced the other one. so that everything is clear, the record was independently timed and sanctioned by Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, which are the organizers of the annual competition at the Colorado venue.

To make a better idea, know that the course goes through 156 corners as it ascends beyond the treeline from 9.390 feet above sea level to 14.110 feet. At that altitude the air contains only 58% of the oxygen it does at sea level, diminishing engine performance and blunting human physical and mental performance. The Range Rover Sport receives power from a 5.0-liter supercharged petrol V8 engine capable of generating 510 PS. The driver was American competition and stunt driver Paul Dallenbach. The man is 45 years old from Basalt in Colorado and won his division at the Hill Climb 6 times and won the event outright three times. This even was actually the first in a series of global driving challenges, pushing the vehicle to new limits in a series of the most punishing drives to be fount on earth. The first run was back in 1916 and some of the most famous racing drivers are Mario Andretti, Bobby Unser, Rick Mears and Al Unser.
