We now fresh information on the new Mazda3 model after a lot of leaked images released this week. Because we already had the opportunity to see how the model looks inside and out, we will now turn our attention towards the US specifications mentioned by the company in a press release. The five-door version is 2.4 inches longer in comparison to the 3 it is 1.8 inches shorter in length at 175.6 inches. The height was also reduced by 0.6 inches, but the car gains 1.6-inches in width. So the carmaker says the rear seatbacks are almost 2.0 inches taller so that passengers feel more comfortable. The front and rear shoulder room has also increased to 57.2 and 54.4 inches respectively, which is quite impressive if you ask us. The new Mazda3 has received the SKYACTIVE TECHNOLOGY treatment as well just like the VW Golf and the Ford Focus. This actually reduces the weight and improves fuel efficiency and transmissions.
The European version comes with a SKYACTIV-D 2.2-liter engine which will also be offered later on in the US. It will also come with a SKYACTIV-MT manual unit which weighs 198 pounds less in comparison to the outgoing model. In the US the mode will be launched with a choice of two 4-cylinder gasoline engines: a SKYACTUV-G 2.0-liter unit capable of generating 155 horsepower and 150 lb. ft. of torque and a larger SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter unit capable of producing 184 horsepower and 185 lb. ft. of torque.
There will also be a standard SKYACTIV-MT 6-speed manual and an optional SKYACTIV-Drive 6-speed automatic transmission for the front wheels. The engineers have offered i-ELOOP brake energy regeneration system that will store electricity generated when the vehicle decelerates. The Mazda3 will be available in US dealerships before the year ends.
