Mazda plans to introduce the new 2014 Mazda6 mid-size model at the 2012 Moscow Motor Show. In different parts of the world, including Europe, the model will be offered as a station wagon. In the gallery you can see images of the interior of the car, which seems to be less glamorous in comparison with the exterior. The carmaker used a lot of soft materials on the door trims and the upper part of the dashboard panel, so mainly places the occupants touch more frequently. The wheelbase measures 2.830 mm and it is also 105 mm longer than the previous Mazda6. It has 4.865 mm in length, 1.840 mm in width and 1.450 mm in height. After the modifications, the model has a reduced front overhang and the rear deck is now also shorter.
The trunk has a wider opening in comparison with the previous model which improves loading and it has a cargo capacity of 483 liters. To reduce the weight, the carmaker used the new SKYACTIV-Body structure which makes wider use of ultra-high tensile steel. The Mazda6 features a rear multi-link suspension and also features new column-type electric power assistance. Nothing is for sure yet, but the model might be offered, like in Russia, with a choice of two new 4-cylinder gasoline engines. The first one is the SKYACTIVE-G2.0-liter capable of developing 148 horsepower and 210 Nm of torque and the second one is the SKYACTIVE-G 2.5-liter. This variant is capable of producing 189 horsepower and 256 Nm of torque. Both will use a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission to send the power to the wheels. The official specifications of the Mazda6 sedan and station wagon will be presented for the first time at the Paris Motor Show.
