McLaren 650S GT3

The most thrilling supercars are usually the most compromised: their suspension is rock solid, road noise invades the cockpit and creature comforts are removed to reduce weight. The new McLaren 650S breaks the mould: it is sensational to drive yet generously equipped and extraordinarily comfortable. It’s the world’s ultimate luxury sports car. And exactly when we thought we’ve seen it all with McLaren supercars, they introduce the McLaren 650S GT3 model. This happened a few days ago at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The McLaren 650S GT3 features the same carbon fiber MonoCell chassis with aluminum front and rear sub frames as the road-going version. It also benefits of improved aerodynamic body parts, which include a front splitter, dive planes, a fully adjustable rear wing with gurney, and front and rear diffusers. The fabulous car is equipped with an ATLAS data acquisition system, a motorsport digital dash display, a modified ECU incorporating turbo boost and transmission shift control, and a composite steering wheel incorporating key driver switch controls and map settings.

The spectacular McLaren 650S GT3 is powered by a race developed 3.8-liter V8 twin-turbo M838T engine, which works linked to a 6-speed sequential motorsport transmission pneumatically actuated via steering wheel mounted paddles. The horsepower and torque output of the 650S GT3 have not been made public so far. McLaren also keeps secret the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) acceleration time of the 650S GT3 and its top speed. But hopefully, we’ll get to find more information as soon as possible.
