Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG in Detroit

Time has come for us to see what Germans from Mercedes-Benz have prepared for us. We are talking now about the 2014 CLS 63 AMG and also about the Shooting Brake. The models will be revealed for the first time at the Auto Show that will take place in Detroit, in only a few days.

The first one receives power from a 5.5-liter V8 bi-turbo capable of generating 557 horsepower and 720 Nm of torque. This output enables the 4-door coupe to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 4.2 seconds. The Shooting Brake needs some additional 0.1 seconds. When it comes to the 4MATIC versions, these can reach 62 mph in 3.7 and 3.8 seconds, respectively.

In case you did not know, the updated CLS lineup will also be available in the 4MATIC S-model variant. This lifts the output to 585 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque which means the Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 3.6 seconds and the Shooting Brake in 3.7 seconds. Beside this, all models can reach an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. To transfer all the output to the wheels, the German engineers have offered the 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT transmission offered in four modes: Controlled, Efficiency, Sport, Sport Plus and Manual. The Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG S-model has a differential lock fitted on the rear axle. This increases traction, ultimately leading to even greater driving dynamics and enhanced driving enjoyment. All CLS 63 AMG model have the AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension with electronically controlled damping system. To handle the extra power, the model is fitted with an AMG high-performance braking system. There is also a ceramic one, but it is only available for the S-Model.

The Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG with rear wheel drive will be offered for sale starting this April and the all-wheel drive variant in June.
