MG3 Trophy Championship Concept

The rich history of MG began nearly 90 years ago in 1924. The famous initials we know and love were chosen by Cecil Kimber, the founder of MG. Kimber chose the letters as a "nod" to William Morris, his employer, and the owner of Morris Garages. Kimber didn't just come up with the name. He also created the first line of MGs. Now, over decades, the job at MG Motor is to take this great brand, full of history and heritage and give it a worthy future. This responsibility is taken very seriously and here we are admiring the MG3 Trophy Championship Concept.

The MG3 Trophy Championship Concept has just been revealed and it could represent a future racing car. The vehicle is powered by an upgraded 1.5-liter VTi Tech engine that features a turbocharger, billet aluminum pistons, and new camshafts. As you can imagine, there is also a reprogrammed Engine Control Unit (ECU). As MG officials state, the new MG3 Trophy develops 207 hp and 260 Nm of torque. This means an extra 101 hp and 124 Nm compared to the street legal MG3.

The MG3 Trophy Championship Concept also benefits of improved aerodynamics, which supposes a new front bumper and splitter, side skirts, an updated rear apron and a roof spoiler. The new MG3 Trophy received a limited slip differential, a bespoke sport exhaust system, an adjustable sport suspension system and a set of 17-inch alloys. On the inside, the MG3 Trophy receives the elements that a racing car needs. It has a roll cage, sport bucket seats, a fire extinguisher system and a sport steering wheel. More details will soon emerge.
