For most of the people, the automobile represents a degree of freedom, an expression of personality and the symbol of an individual lifestyle. Sportiness, elegance, avant-gardism or refined luxury, are criteria which large-scale manufacturers are ill equipped to meet. That is where Irmscher's after-market equipment and special series come in. The tuning company usually works on Opel cars, as the brand is its main partner and their recent work is based on the Opel Insignia is3 concept.
The Opel Insignia is3 concept is inspired by the pre-facelift Insignia OPC model. At the first sight, the is3 looks like a race car. Still, it would be a legally road vehicle. It is distinguished by a front splitter, refreshed side skirts and a rear diffuser. The model also features a prominent rear wing and it uses a set of 20-inch alloy wheels.
The Opel Insignia is3 concept received some modifications regarding the engine configuration, which should develop 370 PS (279 kW) and this would mean an improvement of 45 HP (33 kW) compared to the OPC. This should allow the vehicle to sprint from 0-60 mph in less than 5.8 seconds. The concept looks like being close to production. However, the tuner says that their project will serve as basis for the future accessories they will create for the Insignia models.
