Porsche 918 Spyder celebrated its world debut during the Frankfurt Motor Show.
With the concept launched in 2010, the 918 Spyder production car is finally here after more than three years of waiting. The unit is powered by a naturally aspired V8 4.6 liter gasoline engine and two electric motors. One of the electric engines is located on the front axle and the other engine is positioned at the rear one.
A 6.8 kWh lithium-ion battery installed in the lower back of the monocoque powers the electric motors. The 918 Spyder can go from 0-100 Km/ h (0-62 mph) in less than seven seconds while on electric mode (E-power). The same mode enables the vehicle to reach a maximum speed of 150 Km/ h (93 mph).
The gasoline engine outputs 608 hp (447 kW), the electric motors produce 856 hp (210 kW) leading to a combined output of 887 hp (210 kW) and a maximum torque ranging between 917 Nm (676 lb-ft) and 1.280 Nm (944 lb-ft). The auto features a dual clutch seven speed automatic transmission.
The Race Hybrid mode, which brings the vehicle`s full power, enables the car to reach from 0-62 mph in 2.8 seconds and from 0 to 124 mph in just 7.7 seconds. The fuel consumption varies from 3.0 to 3.3 liters/ 100 Km and the Co2 emissions vary from 79-70 g Km.
To imagine the auto in terms of figures, the Porsche 918 Spyder has a 70 liter capacity fuel tank. The unit is 1167 millimeters tall, 1940 millimeters wide and 4643 millimeters long.
The interior is divided into two sections, one is dedicated to the controls for the driving activity (revolving around the multi function steering wheel) and the other to the infotainment block positioned in the elevated centre console.
On the USA market the prices for the 918 Spyder range from 845.000 USD to 929.000 USD .
