Seat presents a range of cars that deliver the thrilling combination of superior engineering and pure enjoyment. Founded more than 60 years ago, it is a dynamic, design driven, young spirited brand constantly seeking to create new levels of quality car enjoyment. And this is what the people working for the Spanish automaker are trying to do with the new 2014 Seat Leon ST which has just been revealed.
The 2014 Seat Leon ST has the same wheelbase as the five door hatchback version but the back part has grown by 270mm which leads to more available luggage space. This means some extra weight comparing it to the hatchback. Although the ST now has 1,233 kg (2,718 lbs), it still is the lightest estate in its class. The cargo capacity is 587 liter and after folding the back seats it can be increased to a quite impressive 1,470 liters capacity. The new Leon ST combines the youthful, dynamic design and sporty characteristics of its siblings with exceptional utility. In these terms, the first ST version of the Leon becomes a great family car, and why not an awesome business car.
The 2014 Seat Leon ST comes in different engine configurations. The petrol lineup offers a 1.2 TSI engine producing 86 HP (63 kW) and 105 HP (77 kW), or a larger 1.4 TSI generating 122 HP (90 kW) or 140 HP (103 kW). If the customer’s option is the FR model he can have the 1.8 TSI engine developing 180 HP (132 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. Moving on to the diesel lineup we also find three types of engines. Clients can choose between the 1.6 TDI outputting 90 HP (66 kW) and 230 Nm (170 lb-ft) and the 2.0 TDI generating 150 HP (110 kW). Exclusively in the FR model there is the 2.0 TDI engine that is capable of producing 184 HP (135 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft). The pricing is yet unknown, but for example, in the U.K., the ST will be around 1,000 GBP more expensive than the hatchback.
