Tata ZEST and Tata BOLT

Tata Motors Limited is the largest automobile company in India. It is the leader in commercial vehicles in each segment, and among the top in passenger vehicles with winning products in the compact, midsize car and utility vehicle segments. It is also the world's fourth largest truck and bus manufacturer. The company’s mission is to be passionate in anticipating and providing the best vehicles and experiences that excite their customers globally. The company has just revealed in New Delhi the Tata ZEST compact sedan and the Tata BOLT hatchback.

Both the Tata ZEST compact sedan and the Tata BOLT hatchback are pure representations of the company’s new “DesignNext” styling language. Considering the Tata models we might say they are quite awkward when it comes to design. However, these two new models seem closer to the current trend in styling and design. The two cars are powered by a new 4-cylinder 1.2-liter turbocharged Revotron gasoline engine that generates 85 HP (62 kW) at 5,000 rpm and 140 Nm (103 lb-ft) between 1,750 rpm and 3,000 rpm. A 1.3-liter Quadrajet diesel engine borrowed from Fiat is also available. It can produce 90 HP (66 kW) at 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm (147 lb-ft) and works linked to a new five-speed automated manual transmission.

The Tata ZEST is a small sedan, sized 3995mm in length, 1695mm in wideness and 1570mm in height and it weights 1,106 kg (2,438 lbs). The ZEST and the BOLT are equipped with a new HARMAN infotainment system that includes a five-inch touch screen display with support for voice recognition, Bluetooth, as well as smart phone and social media integration. The two vehicles ride on X1 platform developed by the Indian company and will have their global introduction later this year.
