When it comes to engine technology, aerodynamics, sports wheels, exhaust systems, suspension or brakes, ABT Sportsline is the name that perfectly does the job. The German tuning car set eyes on the popular Volkswagen Golf R and tried to give it a trendier air. The upgrading includes some engine changes and also a subtle body kit.
ABT’s tuning package is based on the latest version of the Volkswagen Golf R, the 2014 one. It is powered by a 2.0 TSI turbocharged engine, which has been upgraded and it now generates 370 hp (272 kW) and 460 Nm of torque. This means 70 hp and 80 Nm of torque in addition to the stock variant of the VW Golf R. Because of the extra ponies, the new ABT Golf R can sprint from zero to 62 mph (100 km/k) in 4.5 seconds and to hit a maximum speed of 265 km/h. The standard version of the 2014 Golf R needs 5.1 seconds to get to 62 mph (100 km/h) and it is limited to a maximum speed of 250 km/h.
All the additional power comes from a remapped ECU which can keep the fuel consumption at the same rate, despite the extra power. The body kit includes a new front bumper, a front splitter, a new grille, "eyelids" for the headlights, updated side skirts, a new rear bumper with an integrated diffuser and a roof spoiler. The rear hatch has also suffered some modifications. Till now, the tuner did not announce any interior upgrades for the 2014 VW Golf R. The ABT Volkswagen Golf R's price is still unknown. The car looks just great and it will certainly attract many clients.
