Golf R will make its world premiere at this year`s Frankfurt Motor Show, therefore Volkswagen has released a promotional video alongside with a number of new pictures. The model will be the most powerful of its range reaching 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds with the optional six speed double clutch transmission DSG or in 5.1 seconds with the six speed manual.
The car is powered by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine developing 300 hp (221 kW). Besides being more powerful than the last model, it is also more economical, saving 18 percent of the fuel cost. The optimal traction is ensured in all road conditions by the new 4MOTION all-wheel drive system with a fifth generation Haldex coupling which will eliminate most of the traction losses. The model brings a maximum torque of 380 Newton metres.
The sports character of the car is emphasized both by the design and by the dual-branch exhaust system with four chrome-plated tailpipes. The new concept also features specially designed bumpers and side skirts. Furthermore, the standard equipment will include 18 inch alloy rims with 225 / 40, progressive steering and bi-xenon headlights.
The new Volkswagen Golf R will be available for purchase by the end of this year and concerning the prices on the German market, the cost goes from 38.325 Euros.
