News have arrived from American carmaker Ford, regarding their 2015 Edge Sport model which has been officially SAE-certified as the most powerful Edge ever made. Under the hood, the new model hides a 2.7-liter V6 unit capable of generating 10 percent more horsepower in comparison to the previous standard 3.7-liter V6 unit and also a 25 percent increase in torque.
The model comes equipped with the front-wheel-drive Edge Sport which returns an EPA-estimated fuel consumption of 18 mpg in the city, 27 mpg on the highway and 21 mpg on a combined cycle. The all-wheel-drive model comes with 17mpg in the city, 24 mpg on the highway and 20 mpg on a combined cycle.
To transfer the output the the road, the engineers have provided 20-inch standard polished aluminum wheels with magnetic low-gloss painted pockets, 12-inch premium painted dark-gloss aluminum wheels. As optional, Ford provides summer-only 21-inch wheels. The Ford Edge also comes with Active Noise Cancellation technology to manage the sound of the 2.7-liter EcoBoost. Moving on, we also have to mention the standar LED taillamps and LED Signature lighting. The colors available in the new colors are Electric Spice, Broze Fire Metallic and Magnetic.
On the inside, we can find leather-trimmed sport seats with perforated suede inserts, aluminum brake and accelerator pedal covers and SYNC 8-inch LCD touch screen in the center stack and a lot more.
Together with the 2.7-liter, the carmaker has also developed a 2.0-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder capable of generating 245 horsepower and 275 lb. Ft. Of torque and a 3.5-liter Ti-VCT V6 with a 280 horsepower and 250 lb. Ft. Of torque for the 2015 Edge. The price for the base model has been extablished to start at USD28.100.
